Second-Chance Hiring · Wichita, KS

You’re more than your record.
You are an overcomer.

18,400 workers placed in Wichita since 2013. People with records have been walking in since day one. We matched them to employers who could work with their situation — we’ll do the same for you.

Some of our clients require background checks. Some don’t. Be honest about your record at the counter — it won’t end the conversation before it starts.

Our Policy

How we actually work.

Three things to know before you walk in.

01

Mixed Client Portfolio

Some of our clients require background checks. Some don’t. Our job is to match you with employers whose hiring criteria fit your situation — not to screen you out.

02

Individualized Review

We evaluate every candidate by the nature of the offense, time since, and the specific job — never a blanket no.

03

Honest Promise

Your record won’t end the conversation before it starts.

Industries

What kinds of jobs we staff.

Schools / Childcare

Federal and Kansas law restrict placements in these environments, including individuals on the sex offender registry. Other record types may still qualify depending on the role and the school’s policy.

Warehouse

Picking, packing, forklift, shipping and receiving. Client background-check requirements vary.

Manufacturing

Production lines, assembly, machine operation. Most clients flexible; some run background checks per role.

Construction

General labor, site cleanup, materials handling. Most clients flexible on records.

Food Processing

Production, packaging, sanitation. Indoor work, structured shifts. Varies by client.

Hospitality

Kitchen, banquet, event support. Varies by client.

Aerospace & Aviation

Wichita aerospace warehouse and production roles. Strict background checks required for most positions — we’ll tell you which roles you qualify for at the counter.

Our Founder

He’s been where you are.

“Adversity always begins with hard work.”

— Chris Rickerson, Founder

Don’t take his word for it. Inc. Magazine, The Wichita Eagle, and the Governor of Kansas didn’t either.

By the Numbers

18,400+ placed since 2013. We’ve been placing people with records since the start.

If your record disqualified you here, this number couldn’t be that high.

The Process

From walk-in to placement.

If you’ve been searching for a Wichita staffing agency that hires felons, the next sentence is the one you came for: your record won’t end the conversation before it starts. Walk in. Tell us about your background on the application. We’ll match you to a client who can work with your situation.

Walk in.

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. 415 N. Poplar, Wichita. No appointment. No phone screen first.

Tell us about your background on the application.

That’s how we match you correctly. The application asks — be honest. We can work with truth. We can’t work with a surprise three weeks into a placement.

Counter intake conversation.

Stand at the counter with a staffing specialist. We learn your work history, ask the questions we need to match you to the right job, and tell you what placements we have today.

We match.

We match you to a client whose hiring criteria fit your background. Some clients require background checks; some don’t.

Start tomorrow.

If there’s a fit, we tell you on the spot. Many candidates leave the office with a placement and a start time for the next morning.

What Works

What gets you placed first.

Six things in your control. The candidates who do them get placed first.

Bring a great attitude.

Biggest variable in who gets placed first. Attitude is what we remember.

Smile. Make eye contact.

Few do. Tells us you’re ready.

Be honest about your record.

Don’t hide it, don’t downplay it. We can work with truth, not a surprise three weeks in.

Be coachable.

The candidates who go furthest listen, take feedback, adjust — they’re not always the most experienced.

Show up ready that day.

Bring the documents to complete the I-9 form (federal employment verification — you choose which from the acceptable list). Half the time we’re placing same-day.

Take the work that gets your foot in the door.

Our founder did. We look for the same — gratitude and willingness, not picky.

“I was tending brick. I was hauling brick up scaffolding manually. And I’ll tell you I was grateful for that job. I was glad. I didn’t care what I had to do. I was just going forward, I wasn’t going backwards.”

FAQ

Questions before you walk in.

What candidates with records ask most often. Honest answers — no boilerplate.

Will my felony show up to the employer?
It depends on the placement. Some clients run background checks; some don't. For placements that require a check, the employer sees what the check returns. For placements without a check, your record isn't shared. We tell you which jobs include a background check before you accept the placement.
How recent is too recent?
There isn't a universal cutoff. We evaluate based on the nature of the offense, time since the offense, and the specific job. Recent records can still place — it depends on the client's requirements and the role.
What if I'm on probation or parole?
Tell us at the counter. We can work with many candidates on probation or parole, but some clients require certain conditions. We'll match you to placements that work with your supervision requirements.
What if I'm on the sex offender registry?
For school and childcare placements, federal and Kansas law restrict who can work there — including individuals on the sex offender registry. For other placements, we evaluate each candidate based on the nature of the offense, time since, and the specific job.
Will you tell my employer about my record?
For placements that require a background check, the employer sees what the check returns — we don't disclose anything beyond the legal verification process. For placements without a background check, your record stays between you and us.
Do I need to bring any paperwork?
Bring the documents to complete the I-9 form (federal employment verification — you choose which from the acceptable list). If you have anything that supports your work readiness — discharge papers, certificates, reference letters — bring it. Not required, but helpful.
What if I get hired and they find out about my record later?
That's why we ask you to be honest on the application and at the counter. If you disclose upfront, we match you to clients who can work with your situation. If you don't disclose and a discrepancy surfaces later, the placement can end — and so can our work relationship.
Our Founder’s Story

Fighting back from poverty and addiction.

Chris Rickerson was the man no one would hire. Four felonies. No high school diploma. A long shadow.

Someone gave him a shot hauling brick up scaffolding for $8 an hour at his first job out of treatment. He started Elite Staffing Solutions in 2013the company he wished had existed when he was at the bottom.

“Someone gave me a shot once, and I’m adamant about doing the same for others. The cycle that I was born into ends with me.”
